Tree Removal

Tree removal is the controlled dismantling or felling of a tree that cannot or should not remain in place.

What is tree removal?

A tree may need to be removed because of severe decline, structural instability, storm damage, or a conflict with a planned use of the property. Removal methods vary with the tree's size, condition, access, and proximity to buildings, roads, and utilities.

A qualified tree service should assess the site before recommending removal. In some cases, pruning or ongoing monitoring may be a reasonable alternative. Local permits or approvals may also apply.

Common reasons for the service

  • The tree is dead, severely declining, or damaged beyond practical recovery.
  • The trunk, roots, or major limbs show defects that may create an unacceptable risk.
  • The tree conflicts with construction, access, utilities, or another approved property use.

What to expect

  • A site assessment and written estimate describing the tree, work area, cleanup, and price.
  • A controlled work zone using equipment and rigging appropriate for the available space.
  • A clear agreement about debris removal and whether stump grinding is included or priced separately.
